Progress of Hainan Prefecture Big Data Industrial Park: Accommodates 33,000 standard servers, Phase II acceptance passed

On November 6, the foundation pit inspection of the 4# data center and power center of the Phase II infrastructure project of Hainan Prefecture Big Data Industrial Park in Qinghai Province was successfully completed.

The Phase II project started in July 2023, mainly constructing a 20,000-square-meter data center and a 10,000-square-meter incubation base. The project plans to complete the main construction by the end of 2023. All data centers are built according to the national highest standard A-class machine room, and after completion, they can provide 2528 racks and accommodate 33,000 standard servers.

After the completion of the industrial park, the total number of racks in the park's data center will reach 100,000, accommodating 1.33 million standard servers. Supporting facilities include a comprehensive service office building, a research and education center, an incubation center, a convention and exhibition center, a big data trading center, an e-commerce center, a warehousing and logistics center, and expert apartments.

It is understood that in 2017, Hainan Prefecture cooperated with Huawei Technologies Co., Ltd. to promote the construction of the Hainan Prefecture Big Data Industrial Park. The total investment of the Hainan Prefecture Big Data Industrial Park project is 2.1 billion yuan, with a total planned area of 1200 mu, and it is planned to be completed in three phases over six years. The overall layout of the industrial park is a core area for big data industries, including big data service and storage areas, big data application and display areas, and smart city application and service areas; the "four areas" are the big data industrial innovation area, the big data trading area, the digital industry talent cultivation area, and the comprehensive service area.

Among them, the Phase I project was officially put into operation in May 2020, including a 5,000-square-meter data center-smart exhibition hall, a 5,000-square-meter data center, and a 700-square-meter energy center, with 527 racks and 6,800 standard servers.

Qinghai regards the big data industry as one of the four pillar industries in Hainan Prefecture and strives to develop it. It closely grasps the new direction and changes in the national big data industry development, combining the construction of the national sustainable development agenda innovation demonstration zone and the opportunities for coordinated development in the Pan-Gonghe Basin region. Currently, Hainan Prefecture has 8 data centers in use and under construction, with a rack capacity of 31,149.

Among them, the Hainan Prefecture Supercomputing and Cloud Computing (Data) Center and the Phase I of the Green Low-Carbon Big Data Center + Energy Integration Project are both large-scale data centers. It is expected that the development of data centers will take shape by the end of this year. It is on this basis that Hainan Prefecture has been included in one of the two core clusters of the national "East Data, West Calculation" layout in the province.

The 18th China IDC Industry Annual Conference (IDCC2023) will be grandly held at the Beijing National Convention Center from December 12 to 14, 2023. The theme of the conference is "Computing Power Evolution, Digital Creation," focusing on hot topics in the computing power industry, bringing together industry elites to discuss the development direction and future trends of the digital economy. Welcome to register and participate on-site!
